Indoor air pollution: an international health problem!
The quality of the indoor air we breathe is important for our health and well-being. The less dust and fewer allergens, micro-organisms and chemical contaminants we breathe in, the lower the risk of becoming unwell.
According to recent studies by the leading institutions WHO (World Health Organisation) and EPA (US Environmental Protection Agency), the indoor air in our living, working and mobility areas is often 2 to 5 and even up to 100 times more polluted than the air outside due to the biological and chemical load!
The problem is compounded by today’s method of energy-efficient construction. As a result, inadequate ventilation often causes undisturbed propagation of bacteria, viruses, house dust mites, mould, fine dust and pollen in our indoor spaces.
Given the increasing impact due to fine dust and pollutants, clean indoor air can no longer be taken for granted. The quality of breathing air has deteriorated markedly in recent years. Everywhere in our indoor spaces, bacteria, viruses, dust mites, mould, fine dust and
pollen can spread undisturbed.
Reason enough to pay full attention to indoor air quality!
CA-506 HEPA UV ioniser air purifier
Suitable for small and large rooms up to 60m² / 150m³ / 645ft²
Health starts with clean air!
The CA-506 HEPA UV ioniser air purifier is fitted with powerful filters with a wide operating spectrum to deal with particles, molecules, gaseous pollutants and odours. By applying six up-to-date filter technologies, the CA-506 air purifier creates clean, fresh breathing air and offers protection against:
• Dust/fine dust
• Bird dust
• Bacteria and viruses
• Cigarette/tobacco smoke
• Odours
• Gases
• Fine particles (PM2.5)
• TVOC's
• Hair and dander
• House dust mites
• Mould spores
• Pollen
Its slim tower configuration, neutral colour scheme and ultra-quiet operation make the Clean Air Optima® CA-506 HEPA UV ioniser air purifier suitable for use in any interior. The wide and effective filter spectrum makes the CA-506 air purifier especially suitable for people suffering from asthma, bronchitis, COPD, allergies and a weak immune system.
Effective air cleaning in seven steps:
1. Intake
Polluted indoor air is drawn in by a low-noise powerful fan.
2. Pre-filter / Activated carbon filter
The pre-filter captures larger dust particles and other pollutants, such as hair and dander. The activated carbon filter effectively filters gases, chemicals, cigarette smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and odours such as pet, mould, kitchen and paint odours from the indoor air.
3. TRUE HEPA (H13) filter
Purifies 99.97% of all suspended matter down to 0.3 microns (0.3 µm) from the air: The HEPA filter is the most effective air filter for removing dust/fine dust, allergens and other solid particles.
4. Tio2 photocatalytic filter
This filter can effectively reduce chemicals, bacteria and odours. The photocatalytic filter works in combination with the UV-C lamp, creating a particularly powerful bactericidal and viricidal effect. .
5. UV-C lamp
The ultraviolet light from the lamp (UV-C radiation) with a wavelength of 254nm kills health-harming microorganisms such as: germs, viruses, mould (mould spores) and bacteria. Furthermore, it destroys microorganisms that have accumulated in the unit.
6. Ozone-free ioniser
Negative ions attach themselves to dust particles, microorganisms and other undesirable substances in the air and bind them together. These particles become heavier than the air in this way and drop down or are filtered out of the air by the air purifier.
7. Purified air
Clean, healthy breathing air flows out from the top of the air purifier into the indoor space.
Effectiveness of Clean Air Optima® air purifiers with CADR certification
The Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) effectiveness criterion determined in supplier-independent laboratory tests places both Clean Air Optima® CA-506 and CA-508 air purifiers at the forefront of indoor air quality improvement systems. The high-performance filter system in both units extracts micro-fine particles down to 0.3 microns (0.3 µm) from the air with 99.97% efficiency.
The CADR value indicates how effectively the air purifier filters particles such as smoke, dust and pollen from indoor air. This is measured by independent bodies in standard spaces up to 20.4m² and the resulting measured values range from 10 to 450 cubic feet of particle-free air per minute.
The CADR value of the HEPA UV ioniser air purifier CA-506 is 220 M³ of particle-free air/hour.
The Clean Air Optima® CA-506 air purifier provides users with the assurance of healthy, clean breathing air in the indoor environment.
Simple operation via the control panel
The clearly set out control panel on the top of the unit features four touch keys for easy selection of the desired settings.
CA-506 air purifier setting options:
• Switching on and off
• 5 speed settings
• Timer function for switch-off time (1-8 hours)
• UV-C lamp (can be switched on and off)
Use and maintenance
Maintenance and filter replacement
Replacing filters
The Clean Air Optima® CA-506 air purifier is equipped with a filter service life monitor which indicates when filters need replacing. When replacement is due, the air purifier emits a sound signal for 30 seconds, after which the HEPA RESET lamp in the display lights up. Replace the filters following the instructions below.
Depending on use, the service life of the HEPA filter is approx. 6-8 months and that of the activated carbon pre-filter is approx. 12 months. Filter cleaning: for the optimum effectiveness, clean the filters at monthly intervals (see CA-506 air purifier manual chapter on “Cleaning and maintenance”). Signs of expired filters: increased noise level, reduced airflow, clogged filter and increased presence of odours. The HEPA filter must be replaced with a new one if it changes colour from white to grey or black. The HEPA filter does NOT need to be replaced if it remains white.
1. Switch the unit off and pull the plug out of the socket.
2. Press the release button and remove the back cover from the unit.
3. Remove the spent activated carbon pre-filter from the rear cover.
4. Remove the spent HEPA filter from the air purifier.
5. Remove the new filters from their packaging and plastic.
6. Insert the HEPA filter into the air purifier (note the arrow on the filter for the correct installation direction).br>
7. Fit the activated carbon filter in the rear cover.
8. Refit the dust filter, pushing it in carefully until you hear a click.
Restart the air purifier by resetting: after replacing the filters , insert the tip of a pen into the HEPA RESET area on the control panel to start the system.
Replacing the UV-C lamp
The service life of the Clean Air Optima® CA-506 HEPA UV ioniser air purifier UV-C lamp is 8000 operating hours = 1 year of 24/7 operation.
The Clean Air Optima® CA-506 air purifier is equipped with a UV-C lamp life monitor which indicates when UV-C lamp needs replacing. When replacement is due, the air purifier emits a sound signal for 30 seconds, after which the “UV LED” lamp in the display flashes. Replace the UV-C lamp following the instructions below:
Restart the air purifier by resetting: Press and hold the UV button on the control panel for 30 seconds to restart the UV-C lamp service life monitoring system.
